67 Aquona volunteers dedicate their time and talent to social and environmental projects
Catas de agua, the “Aqualogía” educational workshop, and the “BiObserva” bird watching environmental project, are some of the initiatives that Aquona volunteer staff is developing within the Aquona corporate volunteer project “Hands On”, in collaboration with social and / or environmental entities such as Red Cross or SEO Birdlife, among others.
Nearly 70 Aquona workers participate totally voluntarily in the “Hands On” program, a corporate volunteer initiative in which the staff dedicates their time, talent and skills to social and / or environmental causes and projects.
With their participation, free and voluntary, workers contribute to the change of society by generating social and environmental benefits, in addition to collaborating with social entities such as the Red Cross, environmental organizations such as Naturalists Palentinos, Camino del Guadiana or SEO Birdlife, as well as centers educational, youth, neighborhood, social associations and town halls.
In the first half of 2019, Aquona volunteers have dedicated about 240 hours to corporate volunteering.
The “Hands On” program has several initiatives underway:
Aqualogy The Aquona educational project in which schoolchildren learn how the water cycle works in the city, how it is potabilized, and how to make sustainable use of this precious asset. In the voluntary initiative 9 people have collaborated in the municipalities of Briviesca, Palencia, Zamora and Ciudad Real.
BiObserva: It is an environmental volunteer program where participants make bird observations. With the information obtained, they contribute to studies that favor the conservation of local, national and international biodiversity, since these data serve to create a global database and thus study the migrations and changes that may occur. In BiObserva 40 volunteers have participated in Palencia, Zamora, Benavente, Segovia, Daimiel or Ciudad Real, an activity to which they have dedicated more than 135 hours of their time.
Water tastings: With water tastings, from Aquona, the consumption of tap water is encouraged for sustainable development. The volunteers give
know the origin of the water, as well as the qualities and flavors of the liquid element. In the water tastings 18 people participated in Ciudad Real, Daimiel, Palencia, Zamora, Lerma, Ponferrada, Miguelturra, Poblete, Aguilar de Campoo or Cuéllar.
With these actions, Aquona's volunteer staff contributes to the development of society through Sustainable Development. Small and selfless actions that contribute to guaranteeing a respectful and responsible future with the Environment and with water, guarantee of tomorrow.
