Understanding your tariffs
 

The tariffs for managing water, the sewer system and wastewater treatment are based on the specific characteristics of the municipality of Lerma and current legislation.

  • Water, sewers and wastewater treatment

    Water is a scarce resource in Lerma. That is why water bills are divided into consumption tranches, so that users are charged according to their water use with an increasing tariff, so that rational water use is promoted. The income from the tariffs must cover both the regular costs of managing the system and investment in the infrastructures that the town requires.

    There are two parts to the tariff structure for the water, sewer and wastewater treatment service:

    • A variable part, which is billed according to consumption and is applied equally for the water and sewer tariffs. The water bill is also charged in tranches, considering the m3 consumed.
    • A fixed part, called the service fee, is a charge for immediate availability and permanent access to the service. It is applied to both water and the sewer system.

  • Refuse fee

    The fee for provision of the refuse service is charged on the water bill on behalf of Lerma Town Council.

    Tax rate by type of establishment.

    The tax rate will be applied to the following six-monthly tariff:

The water bill may include different concepts. Below are examples of what the price per liter would represent on a bill for 7, 15 and 30m³ of domestic water consumption (1m³ = 1,000 liters).
